Wilds of Ulu Muda

Wilds of Ulu Muda

Request For Rate Located at the eastern frontier of Kedah bordering the Thai province of Yala, this 160,000ha forest is home to most of Malaysia's large mammals and is home to 9 of the 10 Hornbill species found in Malaysia including the very rare and endangered Plain-pouched Hornbill. Also found in the area are the three man made lake of Ahning, Pedu and Muda. Your journey will begin at the Muda Lake Jetty some 150km from Georgetown, Penang. From there you will be taken on a 1.5 hour ride on a traditional long-tailed wooden boat across the lake and up the Muda River to Earth Lodge at Kuala Labua. Some of the activities you can experience include visits to salt licks, wildlife watching, swimming and frolicking in cold forest streams, tubing down river, visiting a limestone hill and its mysterious caves, watching birds and other wildlife. You can also just laze around the lodge grounds listening to nature's music and being awakened by the haunting call of the White-handed Gibbons. There are ten twin rooms and two 6-bed dorms available for guests. All with a balcony and bathroom attached. To ensure guests have a better experience with us, we prefer small groups of less than 12.

Mysterious Perlis State Park

Mysterious Perlis State Park

Request For Rate Only for the most adventurerous among us, a 45 minutes ferry ride from Langkawi take us to Perlis is the Northern most protected area in Malaysia.  5000ha Perlis State Park (PSP) is located at the Western border of Perlis with Thailand. It forms a transboundry protected area with the 20,000ha Thaleban National Park in Satun, Thailand. Perlis State Park sits mainly on limestone thus, the landscape is unusually dramatic with steep cliff face, enclosed valleys, pinnacles and caves. PSP is unique in that its forest is semi-deciduous on limestone. This results in many unusual and unique species that have evolved and adapted to this dry rocky condition. The Wang Mu area of the PSP is also the only place in the world where tin was mined intensively from natural caves. This 100 year old industry only ceased in the 1980s and the mines abandoned. Much of this rich history still await proper documentation. Apart from watching PSP's interesting wildlife, this excursion will have our guests visit the dark mysterious labyrinth of Gua Wang Burma. Be prepared to get wet and dirty while learning more about limestone and cave. A challenging climb up Bukit Pelarit, the park's highest limestone peak at 553m will reward you with stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape including views of Langkawi and Ko Tarotau in Thailand. It also allows you to experience the unique limestone semi-deciduous forest. Accommodation will be at the comfortable Wang Kelian Park Headquarters. This trip is suitable for the more adventurous who are independent and relatively fit. Request For Rate
